Feedback and New Guest: Mr. Stu's Streaming Journey

00:00:49

close. um Also, let me know how you like the new format of like every two weeks. Let me know on social medias or in Spotify.
00:01:00

I mean i would hope so look out It's probably better. I don't know if it's higher
00:02:11
Speaker
but
00:02:13
Speaker
Yeah, true. Very true. Very true. Well, because it's your first time here, we get to do two really fun things off the top, which is loading screen.

Favorite Video Games and Characters

00:02:23
Speaker
You haven't done a loading screen in a while, which is where you give us your favorite video game, video game, video game character and video game soundtrack. Favorite game of all time, man. I know. Loaded questions. One of those questions that you don't really have one answer to.
00:02:39
Speaker
um I don't know if it's my favorite, but the game that I've played the most, I think is The Last of Us.
00:02:47
Speaker
ah I've played it on PS3, PS4, PS5. I played the remaster or the the remake when it came out. like yeah hope like The Last of Us has almost been ported as much as Skyrim.
00:03:02
Speaker
And like GTA 5. And GTA 5 is true. yeah I think when it comes to the big fury of like, how many ports does this game have? I think those are your three. Yeah, it's up there for sure. But yeah, that's that's one of the one of the games that I tell people like, if if you haven't played it, at least give it a shot. I still haven't played it. Yeah, ah Tony, give it a shot. I should. I should. I really should. And like, you're not the first person telling me that. Like I back in like season two, my are both no scoring Nick Green and Cole, who but we've had on the podcast. Like i would but no Nick, we've had to get on this season and Cole, we had on last season. um they They tell me all the time to play it. I mean, like I'll recommend it. I'm not going to force you to play it, but I'll recommend it to you. OK.
00:03:54
Speaker
Favorite character? You know, I've always been a big Waluigi guy. Hell yeah. And I've recently got into Shy Guy. Shy Guy's all right. Shy Guy's pretty solid. he's He's a cute little dude and he does his thing. He's not good or bad. He's kind of a weird kind of like middleman kind of guy.
00:04:16
Speaker
Like, like, depending on the game, I guess. I mean, depending on the game, because there's so many games in Mario Party where Shy Guy is not that nice. Yeah. Like, he's not really with Bowser, but he's not really with Mario. He's kind of his own thing. He's just a he's just a natural lad. He's just a guy. Shy Guy's first appearance in Super Mario Brothers, too. Well, it was it was really early. It was like, yeah, I think it was Super Mario. It was two or three. So like he was working for King Wart.
00:04:46
Speaker
Yeah, he's kind of a weird middleman character. That that he is. that That he is. Favorite OST. Favorite OST.

Video Game Soundtracks and Hot Takes

00:04:55
Speaker
I don't really listen to OSTs too much, at least not actively. Like, I don't go out of my way to listen to them. um But, I mean, honestly, anything Toby Fox touches is gold. ah So, like, Undertale's really good.
00:05:09
Speaker
And like the songs he did for Pokemon and stuff were really good. Yeah, the fucking what was what he did in for here's the Battle Tower in Gen 8. Oh, he did the Battle Tower in Gen 8 as well. I did not know that. way And he did one in Gen 9. It's not Penny's theme, but he did something else. OK, I thought he did do Penny's theme. It was something else. But yeah, he did like some really good stuff for Pokemon and for his own games, obviously. Yeah. So if not OST, then OST creator is Toby Fox.
00:05:38
Speaker
that Solid. Very fair. Very fair. Okay. And now we get to the spiciest thing. Hot takes. Hot takes. What is your hottest video game take, sir? So I couldn't sleep last night. So I was thinking about this one because I don't really have too many. Most of my hot takes are kind of like.
00:05:56
Speaker
Pretty like universal universal. You know, you know, my my hot take. Have you heard? Have you listened to this podcast enough to know what my heart is? I'll be honest, Tony, I don't listen to podcasts at all. No. So, yeah, of course, I've listened to your podcast. I listen to like one or two episodes, but I don't think I've heard yours. OK. Well, mine I my hottest take is that Super Mario 64 is not a good game casually.
00:06:25
Speaker
Casually, ooh. Yeah, that's a good one. I don't think it's a good game casually. I think that I think runners have made that game. So speedrunners watching a speedrunner play the game is fine because all the tricks that they do, how precise things have to be. There's a math and a science between it and it makes it look good. But like casually, the game sucks. I kind of agree in a way. I don't like when games don't tell you where to go.
00:06:55
Speaker
right? Like, yeah, I get there's some challenge and like the Dark Souls kind of thing where it's like, figure it out and find the boss. But like, give me a hint, maybe like, you know what I mean? Yeah, no, I feel that I feel that it it throws you in the world. And it's like,
00:07:13
Speaker
If I can figure it out, like cool,

First Pokémon Experience and Nostalgia

00:07:17
Speaker
man. What if I want to, what if I'm eight years old and playing this game for the first time? Like, like the first time I played it, I think I was probably 10 when I first played it. Oh God. So like, I had no, like, I think I did like one or two things. I was like, I don't know what to do. So I never played it again. I mean, that was, that that reminds me of, uh, that reminds me of like my first time playing Pokemon Coliseum when I rented the game back when I was.
00:07:41
Speaker
Oh god, like ah between ages 8 and 10, probably, realistically, maybe even 7 or 6. That was young. And here comes Pokémon Colosseum, we rent it for the GameCube, we don't have a memory card, so it's like, um we can only go so far. You gotta beat it in one go.
00:08:01
Speaker
Yeah, uh-huh. It was also my first experience with Pokémon, oddly enough, which is why Umbreon and Espeon are like my favorite Pokémon at all times, because the very first experience with Pokémon was Umbreon and Espeon.
00:08:16
Speaker
And so we I played a game. The start of the game was pretty simple. As you start at the outskirts station, you fight Trudley and Foley. It's one of the two. I don't remember which one you fight. You go to Phoenix City. You talk to the people. You investigate the city. You save Rui. And then you have to leave the city after talking to them there to go get pokeballs.
00:08:41
Speaker
um And so I would leave the city to go get the Pokeballs from the outskirts station, come back and catch one of the start start Jodo starters that you're supposed to catch because Shadow Pokemon.
00:08:59
Speaker
um And the oh wait, no, I didn't know how to snag Pokemon. That's what it was. So I was just kind of stuck. Hold the whole time playing. I'm going to test beyond. That's what it was. You had the two Pokemon the whole time. Yeah, the two Pokemon the whole time, which I would never get past Phoenix City.
00:09:16
Speaker
Like I would get funny. you I think I maybe got to pyrite town once in my first like my like early days of Coliseum. And then it was like, oh, I got to go somewhere else or I'm bored. I'm going to play something else. It's over. Turn it off. There's always a thing with the older Pokemon games. Like you have to actually pay attention to where to go. Yeah. I mean, like the guy was kind of telling him it's usually pretty good. I think like it's pretty linear, but like Yeah, like with the two, I mean, there are particularly like what four Pokemon games on the GameCube. Two of them and calcium and XD are pretty linear of like telling good about telling you where you go next and what you got to do. um Yeah. And then Pokemon channel is just, oh, hey, watch some Pokemon television. And then Pokemon box is just storage system for the Game Boy games.
00:10:06
Speaker
I replayed Pokemon Platinum recently for the first time in a while. Yeah. And I haven't played that game in so long and I got lost so much because if you're not paying attention to what people are saying, you have no idea where to go. Yeah. It's pretty linear, yeah. But if you go somewhere and you're at the wall or a dead end, you're like, well, now where do I go? Do I backtrack? It's like, yeah, exactly, exactly. Platinum is one of those games where it's like, I don't have any issue with it because that was the game I probably put the most hours in before I played Final Fantasy 14. Yeah. Because I had like maybe 500 hours in Platinum as a kid. Or at least 490 something because I remember it was that high. So close to 500 hours in that game specifically.
00:10:59
Speaker
Jeez. Yeah, it was it was it was a game I played the most. I did nearly everything you could in that game. It was great. It was great. Yeah.

Video Game Movies and Adaptations

00:11:10
Speaker
So I think i think my hot take that was up but and until like three o'clock in bed. up It was too hot to sleep. um I think I made a hot take in my head and it was like something about video game movies. And it was like I don't think they're a bad concept. Right. Like
00:11:29
Speaker
i I think that's the difference between making a movie about a video game like Minecraft, right? Oh and making a movie about a video game, but it's not like Taking a game. It's like more in-universe. Oh sort of like Resident Evil Resident Evil or even like taking like like like the alien games Where it's not yeah it's not taking the movie and putting in a game. It's making a game in universe. Right? Yeah, that's fair. So like I think video game movies are overall pretty bad. But I think there's a lot to like about the idea of making like a Resident Evil movie that's in universe, but not exactly canon or canon in a weird way. Like, like the Star Wars um Jedi games, like Survivor and Fallen Order, like those are canon. But it's, it's don't story. Yeah.
00:12:24
Speaker
So but like Borderlands movie, which was ah apparently I haven't seen it because I've heard it i' ah I'm going to avoid it forever. We we broke news live on the podcast where the reviews came out when it was like, yeah, it was zero percent with 35 reviews. Yeah, it was it was not good, but it was. ah But there's some there's there's some movies like Sonic that are fantastic. Yeah. Or the Mario was pretty solid. Yeah. but Because they're more just in universe.
00:12:56
Speaker
Right. And it's not going to execute perfectly every time either way, but like it'll be better if if you're just using the IP as opposed to just taking the game and making a movie or moving and making a game. True. I think some video game movies would do better if they did that. Of course. But but some um have the more, I guess, creative liberty to go another route with it just because of how the universe is.
00:13:24
Speaker
That the Ratchet and Clank game that came out, like the not the what press but the one that was based on the movie, the one that was like a one to one with the movie. Yeah, that was all right. Like it was a good game, which was really weird. because I was like, this is just the movie copy pasted literally almost one to one. Yeah. But there's so much overlap now with video games and movies. Like some games are basically just movies now.
00:13:50
Speaker
Yes, like gawk is a for example, like there's like it's so cinematic and so they're so like rich in story. It's story is a story is definitely very movie like but when you look at what the game is of beating up people in streets and then going bowling. Yeah. It's like it still has that video game aspect of it. Yeah. But like that but but the main story is yeah the movie story is all the side stuff. Right. Yeah, exactly. Which is why I failed for the Amazon series of it.
00:14:20
Speaker
ah Oh, is there me one coming in for Amazon? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It comes up. That's hilarious. I have to watch that. It's going to be based on the I got to finish the games first. but What game are you on? I finished Kwame two. Oh, nice. And I'm waiting for three to go on sale.
00:14:37
Speaker
Yeah, that the the the remastered trilogy of three, four and five. It goes on sale pretty nicely because those three come with a bundle. Yeah. Yeah, three. I'm going to give you the heads up. Three is definitely the worst gameplay wise. I've heard that because it's so old. It's because it is the oldest game now.
00:14:58
Speaker
um why I am really want I'm really hoping because RGG announced and I forgot to put this in the leaking review today So I'll say this now the RGG announced that there's good. There's gonna be ah an RGG summit I believe at the end of this month um So ah so they're gonna talk about something they they are going to announce something. Yeah, they're probably you're gonna us their next game From what we from what the rumors are saying is gonna be a new game. Don't know what the game is It's either gonna be like a drag the third like a dragon game like where we play as each bond yeah, or it'll be and and or it'll be
00:15:36
Speaker
I think Kiwami, which makes the most sense. It's the last game that needs the Kiwami remake because four and five, in my opinion, don't really need the to be Kiwamified. Yeah, but Tony, why not both? They could do Kiwami 3 and like a Drake. I mean, they could. They could they obviously could. they if If anything, butll probably if it's if it's the case of them announcing Kiwami 3,
00:15:59
Speaker
then they'll probably tease the next mainline like a dragon as well. Yeah, they'll probably do both. they They would probably do both. And if we're really lucky, they'll tell us Yakuza of the Dead is getting put on modern console as well.
00:16:14
Speaker
i even dont last but is So basically it takes place in an alternate universe after the events of Yakuza 4 because you need because they need to establish they need to establish Akiyama as well who's a character you're meaning for. Basically the game follows an alternate timeline because ah you play as four characters, you play as Kiryu, you play as Majima, you play as Akiyama and you play as the deceased. Oh God Ryuji Goda. Oh God. Okay. So like and like he's alive like the heads wise like this is an altar time because you should go to is alive still
00:16:57
Speaker
Yeah. And basically a zombie outbreak um happens in Kamurocho and an evil scientist kidnaps Haruka because Kiryu has to get dragged into this somehow. um And basically you're shooting, they gave all the characters guns.
00:17:16
Speaker
and You shoot zombies while doing every other normal Yakuza gameplay

Game Failures and Success Stories

00:17:23
Speaker
stuff. Wasn't that a like arcade game? and it was a it's It's an arcade game. Yakuza of the Dead or Kamuro of the Dead is an arcade game in Judgment and Lost Judgment. That's right. Yeah.
00:17:38
Speaker
ah So yeah, ah but there's a first person those they're the those are the first person on rails, but this is like oh Yeah, no, we just took the Yakuza engine and everyone just uses guns That's hilarious. So yeah, it's it's still just a regular Yakuza game with all the mini games still um It runs horribly on the ps3 which is why I'm like I would like to see them just give it the ps4.
00:18:00
Speaker
Or ps4 ps5 makeover. Yeah. Yeah, just bring it to modern. There's still one. Oh, there's a little up There's what operas little up exactly exactly optimized. Yeah, exactly. So that's why I'd like to see But we won't know until the stuff obviously happens Let's get into the headline of the week ah so We're already 20 minutes in ah The headline of the week. Oh boy. What a story Concord newest game that one of the newer games that came out for the PlayStation and PC well ah not anymore Concord has been pulled from all game stores digitally. You can no longer purchase it. The game is officially shut down um it was out for about a week and
00:18:48
Speaker
Yes, they shut it down on the 6th. What a story, man. They shut the game down on the 6th, and during the time when it was like, okay, well, we only have a couple days left, people began jumping off cliffs in-game to make matches go by faster so they can get the Platinum trophy faster.
00:19:03
Speaker
Yeah, i I was reading about this the other day because I was so curious about it because I i didn't hear about the game until like a week before it came out and Apparently it was being developed for like what six years or something like that eight between six to eight years yeah Yeah, something like that and it was just like it was like the next big thing and then it just didn't do very well well they the way they showed it off in the PlayStation's data play when it was shown off and um People kind of just groaned at the fact that they made this cool looking thing a hero shooter and yeah is They didn't want it like the way that their cinematic trailer looked it looked like it could have been something else and They made it a hero shooter and i that look hero shooters right now. We don't need more
00:19:49
Speaker
We really don't. The the but the market is over-saturated. Also, it didn't. And the gameplay-wise, from what I heard, it didn't do anything like original or like... Nothing groundbreaking. Nothing groundbreaking or new to make it stand out among the other hero shooters. Because if they had, then I don't think this would have happened. um It would have lasted a little longer than a week, maybe.
00:20:08
Speaker
ah Yeah, a little longer than a week. um Also, physical copies of the game. They're being scalped right now because obviously, you know, games are unavailable. So I saw that there someone was selling a game the the game physically for 400 bucks. Yeah, that's insane.
00:20:24
Speaker
That you can't even play anymore. Yeah, exactly. It's just I just it's just gaming memorabilia one of the yeah, like it's just a paperweight Yeah, ah but it's also raises the question of like ah like i'm so I'm surprised that they gave up so quickly when you have that when you have games like no man's sky which was absolute dog shit at launch and but they, uh, didn't like, you know, quit. And now no man's sky is a really great game. It's fantastic. it yeah It was like when it first came out, I played it when it first came out, like pre-ordered it and everything. And I was like, this is fine, but I wanted more. Right. And then now I played it maybe like two years ago to so to see how it wasn't like, this is a different game. Like this is so different than when I first moved it up.
00:21:15
Speaker
Yeah. like It's amazing how much they worked on it. Yeah. And Concord, they just kind of gave up like that instead of like life yeah trying to do something else with it. Like, like.
00:21:30
Speaker
going in there, fixing things, having a thing, giving, give it that personality. But they just gave up. Now, of course, that this being a studio that's owned by PlayStation, the PlayStation and Sony have a hand in this reasoning problem. yeah but if They just wanted to make a hero shooter like to like come back with overwatch or whatever. And they were like, yeah, let's just make it a basic hero shooter. And then that was it. Yeah.
00:21:56
Speaker
Yeah, so I don't know much about marketing and PR. Yeah, exactly. Like I just read the stuff that people put out so that way I can kind of grasp it. And yeah, that's everything. I've been game came out. Games gone. on That's it. Yeah. Game came out. Game gone. Gamers rejoice. I don't know. People people were really like on the kill Concord train. So, yeah.
00:22:22
Speaker
Yeah, so that's our end line of the week rest in peace concord. We barely do the ah If we don't you again gone too soon and we see you again, maybe we and maybe we might see it again, who knows maybe maybe they'll really Make it again under different name hey Maybe maybe ah but with that it's time to go over everything else that happened in the past

Major Game Releases and Critiques

00:22:44
Speaker
two weeks. It's time to jump into the week
00:22:48
Speaker
Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the Week in Review. And to kick things off some of the last two weeks major game releases that we had ah first off the war within expansion for World of Warcraft ah That came out kicking off a three-part campaign For three-part expansion campaign that World of Warcraft is attempting at um To replicate the likes of Final Fantasies like massive trilogy massive ah Connection storyline that they did with storm blood all the way through Endwalker
00:23:30
Speaker
Well more or less like all the way from the first five expansions of the game um But world of war crowd is now taking their crack at it with this and so far. I've heard good things What did it come out No, are you a World of Warcraft guy? No, God. No, I don't. I don't play anything Blizzard. I despise Blizzard so much. That's violent. I hate Blizzard. I hate you. I hate you, Blizzard. If you're listening, Blizzard. If you're listening, I hate you. Yeah, no, I do not like Blizzard. I don't play their games. That's fair. They're awful to their communities. And yeah.
00:24:13
Speaker
Um, squirrel with a gun also came out. Great, great game. Is that really good? Solid? I was watching Milo play it last night. It looks really silly. it's It's really silly. I, I did everything in the game aside from like a couple of achievements in steam. Um, and like, I think I missed like one or two golden nuts in my play through because of some bugs possibly.
00:24:38
Speaker
So, but other than that, great game. M.E.O. The Smiling Man, Famicom Detective Club came out. Star Wars Outlaws came out. Astrobot came out. The Game of the Year Astrobot.
00:24:50
Speaker
and harry potter qui champions also released as well astrobut absolutely i am with you there this is a game of the year contender i am not so weird like it's such a weird game to be like this is a solid flat it's a solid platformer that pays homage mario galaxy while also being a love letter to playsation And, and, and, and, and, and, the game if you are a sony fan if you're a playstation fan this is the love letter that you've been waiting for for this platform this yeah i gotta to think it up i've watched someone play it and i'm like i gotta play this game i have to i i loved um what was it playroom ashton's playroom yeah ashton's play uh because when i got my ps5 i was like i'll play this while my games load
00:25:36
Speaker
And I played it and beat it. Like this is a phenomenal game. It was there was the first game I played on my PS5 because it comes. It's basically the Wii Sports. If as play Asho's Playroom is the PlayStation Wii Sports, Astro Bot is the Wii Sports Resort. Yeah.
00:25:54
Speaker
And harrylige qui Harry Potter, great champions. I've been playing this. Because if you have PlayStation Plus, you can get it for free this month. ah yeah This game, I am surprised at how well refined this game is. um And granted, all they really did was take the Rocket League formula of 3v4.
00:26:13
Speaker
and added the thing of like, oh yeah, you can switch between two positions. Where online, obviously in your single player you can switch between all the positions, because that's what you'll do, but like the AI controls competently enough that if you just want to play one position, you absolutely can.
00:26:36
Speaker
um and It shouldn't affect things too much. obviously see Seeker is the one that's different because that's the one that catches the golden snitch. That one only appears twice per game for a full 7 minute timer. That's how long a match goes for.
00:26:53
Speaker
ah The seeker only appears when a snitch appears and that's when you can switch to the seeker. Otherwise You're doing everything else. It's surprisingly. Well, it's pretty fucking good um And I am close to platinum in the game because I only need three trophies left to avoid single player I would yeah i might pick it up so just for that single player is You do Hogwarts house cup the Triwizard tournament and then the World Cup where you can play as like one of 16 players countries. Are there online trophies? ah There is one online trophy where you got to do like only five PvP matches. Oh, that's not that okay. And then one other. It's online in a sense where you need a friend to do five matches either online or offline, but you got just got to win five matches while in a party.
00:27:46
Speaker
and That's one of the three I still need because I'm like have anybody else that I know that's playing this right Tony I'll pick it up on ps5 and we'll play it together. Hell. Yeah, dude. Yes, please. Please. No, we can stream it. We should stream it together. We could catch a card could finally get used
00:28:05
Speaker
i mean I don't use it that much. I need to use it again. I need to dust it off. Dust off the old capture card. Yeah, i get I would do that. Because the only other two achievements I need are the grind achievement achievements, where you got to play 100 matches. Oh, that's nothing. And you got to reach level 50 in your career, which I'm level 39. So I'm really close to that.
00:28:33
Speaker
And it's really, really simple. Like, even the hardest difficulty that you could go up against the AI computers in isn't too, too bad when you get it, when you know how to do everything. okay Like, it's pretty good. Like, it's a solid game. Solid game, in my opinion.

Upcoming Movies and Game Releases

00:29:29
Speaker
I don't know. GameStop is in the news because they've introduced GameStop Retro across North America. A tracker site was made to find locations near you. um I don't know if they've brought any to Canada yet though.
00:29:52
Speaker
What is Microsoft retro? Is that like retro games? Yeah. So they're basically selling everything from the Wii U backwards. Oh, that's tempting. Yeah. I still have my PS, too. I see this is good. Now, according to their posts that they've been making and sharing about GameStop retro, apparently somebody found a wave bird controller for the GameCube for only 30 bucks.
00:30:18
Speaker
out of GameStop Retro. Now, whether or not this is just clever marketing on their end, or legit, I don't know. I really don't know fully on this stuff of like, is everything priced like actually how they're pricing this? Or like, I'm genuinely like, do not know.
00:30:39
Speaker
So that's all I gotta say about this. I don't know if there are any locations in Canada yet, or specifically in Alberta, realistically. I have no want there to be one. Because I tried looking on the tracker site, but they wasn' it fully working for me, and so I don't really know. But I'd like this to be real and a location in my city, because that would be nice. That would be nice.
00:31:02

Remedy and Annapurna are teaming up to adapt Alan Wake and Control into TV series. This is the same universe, aren't they? Yeah, they're the same universe. Yes, they are. Yeah. i So they just made the announcement. We don't have any real details on when they might actually come out with these series, but ah good to know that it's cool to see because I think Alan Wake would be a great series.
00:31:51
Speaker
I can't say much about Control because I haven't played it yet. It's apparently really good. so Yeah, I've heard great things. um An FF7 Lego diorama has sold on auction for $12,500. The Lego scene is a recre recreation of the iconic Sector 5 sub-zone between Cloud and Aerith. It was one of two created for Square Enix's social media giveaway back in 2023.
00:32:17
Speaker
And, uh, someone now has that and is $12,500 poor. And no, did they buy it built or did they yeah build it? else Yeah, because this was, it was like a fan made thing that where it was like, yes, this is now going to be like, it's like official in the sense of like, it's a contest winner. We are like making this official, but like, there's only like two in the world.

00:32:53
Speaker
God, it's $14 to subscribe now. it I played RuneScape when I was like 10 maybe until I was like 12 and it was like $7 to subscribe for like six bucks. Like it was so cheap. yeah Those currently in multi-month plans will be unaffected by this until like your subscription is up for renewal. Your current price, okay. So yeah, you're grandfathered in if you currently have a if you're if you have one of the other like six month year subscriptions.
00:33:22
Speaker
But those are going up as well. I don't remember what the exact prices were for those, though. Warner Brothers is shutting down Harry Potter Magic Awakened everywhere except Asia. This is one of their mobile games. I don't know much else about it, but it's going. It's down like the Pokémon Go style one. No, that was shut down way before. Oh, was it? a Yeah.

Dragon Age the Valeguard is getting a prequel in the form of an audio drama podcast, Vows and Vengeance. It's about a retired thief searching for her lover in the Fade with seven of the series eight episodes, also highlighting a guest star companion from the video game. So if you want some more drag Dragon Age lore, go listen to that podcast, I guess.
00:35:27
Speaker
Or you could listen to this one. This podcast is better anyway. it probably I mean, they probably have like a fucking like so much production value going into that group. You're just you. I just I'm just a guy. They probably have like audio engineers, people implementing like switches. and Yeah, like, yeah, exactly.
00:35:49
Speaker
ah Gearbox showed off some concept art for new locations in Borderlands 4. That would have been so much more hype if the movie wasn't bad. Yeah, honestly, the whole Borderlands 4 announcement well it would have been so much better if if the movie wasn't bad. If the movie just did okay. like Yeah, exactly. like It's still exciting because the gameplay of Borderlands is the best part of Borderlands.
00:36:15
Speaker
Yeah. And like the like the little like jokes and exactly whatever all the shit post basically that is born. Exactly. So like I'm still excited for Borderlands 4, but like it's definitely not at the level it should be at. Yeah.

um the update will be arriving september tenth and the reason is because of licensing issues I find it so weird that games can like come out with these licenses and then lose the license and have to change it. Yeah, that's weird to me. Like like you got the license for the game. It should be fine. But ah yeah I'll know how that works. I don't know how marketing works. It might be it it might be because of like just like who the like but license holders. um Maybe they made the thing. It's like up this time. I don't know. But yeah, it's weird. The super team Falcons did very well in group and bracket stages, but dropped the ball finishing in 20th place during the match point finals, marking the worst performance ever. Space Station Gaming, led by Pro Player Phoning, took the W after securing first place after 10 grueling games. However, the team of SSG has split apart after internal issues led to an unhealthy environment. With split 2 playoffs finished, it is time to look towards the World Championship. It's been announced to be in Japan at the end of January, so we have quite the wall before then. To fill the space, there is last chance qualifiers taking place, as well as a newly announced casual tournament for non-pros called the BLGS, which will follow a similar format to Challenger Circuit, with a $400,000 prize pool attached to it. There have been no general game updates. However, every week more and more popular Apex streamers seem to be moving on from the game to pursue other titles, as Apex just does not seem to be performing for much of his audience. They're not bringing back casual modes. The limited time modes are usually not very good. The game is not performing to the audience's expected level. Will this be the end? We will see. It's your boy Mist signing off. Stay safe, Legends.

I'll probably check out Date Everything. Yeah, Date Everything. that's I'll check out Paglan. I mean, I've seen Paglan. It looks pretty good.
01:00:41
Speaker
it was a so It was a solid Indie world. um I think this is i think we this is the last Indie world this year, because I don't think it will be. Until February, yeah. Yeah, because it's took twice a year it's like two or three times a year. i think it's like so I don't think we'll see another Indie world specifically, so I think that's going to be the last Indie world of the year, unless one happens in November.
01:01:02
Speaker
Realistically, so that's probably gonna be it for indie world showcases from Nintendo um Moving on to the partner showcase starting off Tetris forever was shown off first a Tetris collection game which I didn't think was We would I I don't know about I don't like does Tetris really need like a collection of Tetris games. I Mean, yeah, like how different could it be?
01:01:27
Speaker
Yeah, it comes out later this year. It's like I think and Tetris is just Tetris. Yeah, I think it's like six different versions of Tetris. And yeah, it's all in a package. I guess they're kind of different. They're all and there's there there's like a like there's a bomb Tetris one. That's like, OK, that's kind of different. But it's like it's a collection of Tetris games. All companies in Switch. And then and NES Tetris is coming to Nintendo Switch online this winter.
01:01:56
Speaker
What are they putting GameCube on here? I think that might be a Switch 2 thing at this point. because its itate we are in we're Considering we're in the window of the Switch 2 getting announced, I think GameCube will be announced for that. sure Star Overdrive was shown off. This is going to be a timed exclusive ah coming out next year. um It's basically like Hoverboarding the it's a hoverboard type game hoverboard skateboard type game looks really cool. Oh like Tony Hawk. Okay. Yeah sort of ah a bit more like Adventure actually but still looks really cool
01:02:41
Speaker
Ghost Simulator 3 is now out on the Switch. Hell yeah. It's out digitally. It's gonna get a physical release in November. So, always cool to see that, I guess. Ghost Simulator 3, believe, is now out on everything as well with this yeah release as well. Then they rapid-fired a couple things. ah Legends of Heroes, Trails in the Sky, the first, coming out next year. I believe this is a... h d modern version of the first Legend of Heroes game. I believe that's what it this is. and i'm like Because I know that that the few people who play the Trails games are very excited for this. So I believe that's what the case was. Star Wars Hunters is entering its third season, to September 26th. Stalker, Legends of the Zone trilogy is coming out in November. So the first three Stalker games getting a collection.
01:03:40
Speaker
Worms Armageddon is getting its anniversary edition coming out September 26. Isn't that the like 3D one? No, this was. was the empty d Yeah. We're Armageddon, I think was like the most popular worms game. yeah That's why it's it's getting this, which makes the most sense. And Disney Dreamlight Valley is has a new game of event happening right now. I don't know what the event is, but it's happening or it happened. I don't play Disney Dreamlight Valley.
01:04:10
Speaker
Then we got a really cool trailer for a new physics-based sandbox game taking place in the SpongeBob SquarePants universe. It's the Patrick Star game.
01:04:23
Speaker
And this looks absolutely very fun, where we get to just play... This is... It's an open world bikini bottom, where everything is like damn near destructible, and you play as Patrick, going absolutely bonkers. This leg game looks absolutely hilarious and funny, it comes out October 4th.
01:04:50
Speaker
Then we got Fitness Boxing 3, Your Personal Trainer, which comes out December 5th. And then the Capcom Fighting Collection 2, which comes out next year, which is adding eight games.
01:05:03
Speaker
um including Capcom vs. SNK, Capcom vs. SNK 2, Project Justice, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Plasma Sword, and Power Stone 1 and 2. The big thing about this being the Capcom vs. SNK, which are like some of the last like old-school fighting games from Capcom that were like, oh, well, we have the Marvel vs. Capcom thing coming out, we have the Street Fighter collection, it's like, holy shit, this is all we need, and then we got it.
01:05:33
Speaker
we We got it like Capcom fans are eating Maximilian dude is living his best life right now because this is the year for this is the Renaissance of Capcom that we are witnessing. And then they showed off more Marvel vs. Capcom fighting game collection, which pre-orders are available now. And then we got a trailer for Atelier Yumia, the Alchemist of Memories and the Envisioned Land. This is a new entry into the Atelier series, which comes out later, early 2025.
01:06:02
Speaker
Sweet Code N 1 and 2 HD remaster was announced, but we didn't get any dates for it. And we got a new trailer for Dragon Quest 3 HD 2D remake, which is showing off that they're actually adding stuff to this game as well. So it's not just like a faithful rec-recreation of the game in 3D 2D. They're adding a new Monster Wrangler class and color customization for all your you all your party members as well, which is really fucking cool.
01:06:31
Speaker
Castlevania, that is getting the Dominus Collection, which were the three DS games, dinosaur Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia, and that is out now. It also comes with an old arcade title.
01:06:48
Speaker
um I can't remember what it's called, but it's another castle, it's another, it was, it was Kanai's attempts to put Castlevania onto arcade machines. And that's a part of this collection as well, as a bonus.
01:07:04
Speaker
Uh, they announced that, uh, the switch announced, uh, that's stiff seven will be available on the switch as well. ah why that fun great Oh yeah. absolutely Yeah. That's, uh, that's like, Oh, okay. Cool. All this is going to be up there too. Good to know. I'm not going to play all your money on it and not play it.
01:07:25
Speaker
Exactly. ah Tales of Graces F remastered comes out January 17, 2025. I think this is the second or third Tales game to get the remastered treatment. Which is cool to see. And then, in my opinion, the hypest news that was at the partner direct... Actually, sorry, second hypest thing to come from the partner direct.
01:07:51
Speaker
The My Sims Cozy Bundle. Yes, that's right. My Sims. This is actually hype. I am so excited for this. You have no idea. As a child, I grew up with one of the Wii games that I played a lot of time and put a lot of time into you was My Sims Kingdom. And this buy sis cozy but put My puts My Sims in My Sims Kingdom from the Wii and puts it into a bundle coming out November 19th.
01:08:20
Speaker
I am so excited for this. It's crazy. um It's crazy that they're that this is happening. I'm excited for that. Glad to see it. FNAF Help Wanted 2 comes out Holiday 2024 for the Switch, as well as Security Breach Ruined. And then they showed off a big trailer for Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma, Azuma, which comes out Spring 2025. We knew of this from the Marvelous games showcased in the summer.
01:08:49
Speaker
But this was the first time we actually got way more details about this game. This takes Root Factory in a whole new direction. ah Being more of like, oh, you have a set story with this one a little bit more. um But I mean, you always kind of have, but this one's like much more like, you're you're like a you forced into a class instead of like, oh, you can kind of go wherever you want with the other classes and whatnot. But it looks good. Spring 2025. And then lastly,
01:09:20
Speaker
the last announcement, the big announcement. And I'm just going to say this, because of this, there is a better chance that with the Switch 2 releases, the character of this franchise might make it into Smash Brothers.

Yakuza Popularity and Streaming Motivation

01:09:38
Speaker
Yakuza Kiwami is coming to the Switch October 24th. And with this announcement,
01:09:47
Speaker
Hope is alive that Kyazuma Kiryu could get into Super Smash Brothers. Because they're now on an Nintendo console.
01:10:00
Speaker
And I want it so bad now. I want it, I want it to be so much. Yeah, I was surprised I didn't. The game must not be that big, or it's not as big as like a Kingdom no Hearts in Japan, because that's usually what they base it on, the Japanese audience.
01:10:15
Speaker
Yeah. with Which is why there's like eight fucking Fire Emblem characters in it. I mean, yeah, Fire Emblem is a very... Yeah. Yeah. um But Yakuza has definitely like gotten in a lot more popular in the West specifically because of... I think it was because of Zero that it started to...
01:10:39
Speaker
pick back up, but I'm just glad that the Switch can now finally get this and has access to it. and if it means I just hope that Kiryu comes to Smash Bros., because I think it'd be the absolute funniest thing ever. um But that was the Nintendo Direct.
01:10:58
Speaker
It was a solid show, but like there wasn't anything like super massive that was announced by either of the two, really. And like going into it, you weren't you're not expecting there to be, because the partner showcases in the past have never really shown anything super big from what I remember of them. ah They're usually a much like, okay, let's just see what ah what's coming to the Switch, essentially.
01:11:22
Speaker
And yeah, overall, it was a solid show, but nothing crazy.
01:11:28
Speaker
Anything you want to add on that, Stu? I don't think so. Okay. ah What was that? We're going to dive into our second topic of the day.
01:11:41
Speaker
This is your public service reminder that most FPS shooters are in a three-dimensional space. So you have to look up once in a while because that camper that you were complaining about has been standing on the same light standard the whole time because you refuse to look up. You're letting your whole team down.
01:12:02
Speaker
which is the motivation to stream, which I'll straight up ask you first. ah Is it hard to get motivated to stream now, Stu, like compared to where you are now to compare to where you when you started? ah When I started, it wasn't really hard to get motivated. It was just hard to kind of just do it like it because it was like a nervous thing because I didn't know how I was going to go. I didn't know like what to expect. I had some tech issues.
01:12:32
Speaker
You know, but now that I'm kind of more comfortable with it, I can, I'm a little more, it's a little easier for me to, like, I look forward to it every week now. Like, cause I stream like two, three days a week. So like every week I'm at work and I'm like, I can't wait to stream this week.
01:12:50
Speaker
But uh, when I first started it was just kind of finding My footing I guess you call it. I don't know kind of finding your flow Yeah, finding the flow of finding like what I want to play what like what to talk about what you know, whatever finding kind of my Personality, I guess you call it Yeah Yeah Yeah, no as a God, how long have I been streaming now? 2020 is when I started. i Yeah, that's when I started, because I started shortly after the podcast had gone through like its first two seasons, I think, trying to recall that. I think motivation was like always there, but like with tech tech was definitely the thing that was holding me back a lot of the time. like
01:13:42
Speaker
I started streaming on my PlayStation. For those that know the... I do remember that, actually. The good the good old Tony Lore. I started streaming on my PlayStation. We did... Just direct from the Twitch app. Directly from that. um We streamed Fallout first. It was just a microphone. No, no camera. And then I got the PlayStation camera, but I had to set it up so weird because it's like, well, my PlayStation is connected to my TV.
01:14:07
Speaker
So I got to basically sit like right here on my couch, have my laptop so I can see Twitch chat right beside me ah and have the camera face me. And it was such a weird angle. It was so bad. Like when I look back at some of the early clips that I had on that, that I still kept because I'm like, OK, that's still a good clip, no matter like how bad that is. It's a time capsule. man It is a time capsule. It's like it's so bad, but like It's because of those that like I started like I was it like I found my like Groove like almost a immediately like after my fallout series that I did i That's kind of what I had to play I felt pretty good after my first couple of streams im like yeah, I could do this no problem and then But like yeah, the reason I didn't start right away cuz I I want to go for a couple years and And I just never had the setup for it. I had no good mic. I had no capture card. I had like nothing. I had a like crappy computer or a laptop. Like, but I had so many friends that streams. Yeah. I leave my headphone mic for the first like three or four months of that stream. Yeah.
01:15:21
Speaker
But yeah, I had a lot of friends that streamed. I had a lot of like streamers that I watched. And I was like, I want to at least give it a shot. If it goes badly, it goes badly. But it's been going OK for like the year and a bit. I'm doing it. so
01:15:36
Speaker
what was ah What was it you did that helped ah combat like the ah motivation and like the nerves? like i think i just like I picked a day. I'm going to stream this day. And then I did it, and I was like, I feel good now. I got it out of the way. I had some friends that were in the chat that were helping me with some tech stuff and and whatever. like But I was so nervous about how it looked, how it sounded. And obviously, that's the thing that you worry about anyway.
01:16:04
Speaker
but like i i had like an audio echo i had like you know the game volume was too loud too quiet like it was There's fine tuning things. Yeah. That's right. I wish there was more options of like that to adjust things, especially well like with streaming streaming on the PlayStation, you have no control over any of those things. Unless like the game has like in game stuff, yeah in game stuff to adjust audio, which we, we, we streamed Kingdom Hearts. It doesn't. Kingdom Hearts does not. Uh, Davely Danganronpa did a Danganronpa was a series that kind of helped me specifically get through my PlayStation era of streaming.
01:16:43
Speaker
Because I think if I didn't have Danganronpa, I probably would not have streamed until I got like, I probably would have done those to like, just kind of establish a couple things. But like, if it wasn't for Danganronpa, I probably would have like, pursued but getting the gaming PC like, as soon as I did.
01:17:03
Speaker
Yeah. I think it's like, especially when you're just starting, it's just forcing yourself to kind of do it. Like if you, like if, if you want to do it, but you're nervous about it, just do it. Like that's how I did it. I was like, I picked a random like Friday or whatever it was or Saturday and I was like, I'm going to stream and I'll do it for like two or three hours and I'll see how I feel afterwards.
01:17:23
Speaker
it was yeah and then so how long after you like initially started streaming that you got like your current setup today that was like how long did that take from like day one so I kind of had most of it I I had the capture card um I had like the console the PC the only thing I didn't have was the mic so I had most of it I got the I started streaming in June or July and I got the mic for Christmas that year so I And the current headphones that I have, I also have for Christmas, but I had headphones before. But so I kind of had it all ready and set up because I ah i was going to use other stuff like use the webcam for like whatever and use the mic for whatever anyway. But now I have it for streaming, so.

Streaming Setups and Technical Challenges

01:18:15
Speaker
It's good to like, I didn't want to start streaming with a less than kind of ready set up.
01:18:24
Speaker
Yeah, that's that that's a good it's it's kind of but it's better to do it that way because one thing I find about a lot of things like Like I'm very picky when I watch streamers nowadays. Okay, what's their setup? What's their quality? um And like obviously there are exceptions to that rule like I will be always be there to support my friends and um and like And I say this, and I've told him this before, and I'm talking about our boy Mello. Love the guy to death. I love Mello.
01:18:57
Speaker
Bro, Mellow, if you're listening to this, get an ethernet cable for fuck's sake. Oh my god. Please, please, please, man! Please! It's the one thing, it's the one thing that is holding him back. I was watching this stream last night and I was like, this stream is dying, please. Please, like, I like everything about everything he has set up is great. Yeah, it's great. Like the whole YouTube. Everything is great. Has everything he does. And I mean this with absolute kindness. And I wanted to succeed. you but And I've told him, dude, just just just get the hundred foot cable. Do what I did. Do what I did back when I was in my old setup, like old place. Well, because I had the same issue he's having.
01:19:46
Speaker
I had that for so long where it would like cut out and I was getting mad about that because it's like it keeps happening. Then I got my ethernet cables and then I got my ethernet cable and it fixed everything. Yeah, like sure. Was it a hundred foot cable that ran from essentially my living room to this bedroom? Yes, it was.
01:20:05
Speaker
But it helped. It made things so much better. It's the one thing. It's the one thing I always recommend to people who want to start streaming. I'm like, okay, do you have an ethernet cable? Do you have a solid connection to your computer from your router? Because if you don't, you can get one. Streaming on Wi-Fi, unless it's from a console, is never great.
01:20:30
Speaker
So, so here's the secret. I i use Wi-Fi for my stream. Really? So I have really fast Internet. OK, so it must be like fast. And I so I have one Ethernet port in the entire apartment and it's across the room. And every other port in this place is a telephone for like a phone jack.
01:20:54
Speaker
So I have nowhere to plug it in that's convenient. That doesn't like go across the couch and like like between the desks. I have nowhere to run an ethernet cable conveniently. So I use Wi-Fi from my streams. And it works pretty okay. Like I had no issues. and I think I use ethernet for the very first stream and that was it.
01:21:16
Speaker
Really? Interesting. Yeah. I mean, I get, I mean, location of your ethernet of the router as well to the computer is probably also another thing as well because yeah because I have no consumer way to run it would make sense as well.
01:21:29
Speaker
And my cable isn't long enough to be like, I think I have like a 10 foot cable. I mean, I legit purchased a 100 foot cable. Yeah, I could do that in a minute off the wall. I ran it was based i had one, like like it was however long, like I made it work. That was like it as like a minimal distraction with everything. Like I think it like it was like in front of like the bathroom door in my old place. That was like the only place where it was like an inconvenience.
01:21:59
Speaker
But like, other than that, like I'm still hardwired, but like everything's in my room now. So it's like, oh, it doesn't look convenient. Yeah. Yeah. It's so much more convenient set up. oh But like it's. Bello, I love you. Yeah. like You need it, man. It's fine if you can get wife. I don't work, but me bellow I will. I will hand to deliver you by old cable.
01:22:23
Speaker
I will. I will, man. Like, uh, it's having spotty internet with a stream is the one thing that like harms you the most.
01:22:37
Speaker
yeah it will definitely like send viewers away yeah especially with how twitch is now where it's like the second a stream dies and it comes back you're instantly hit with ads unless you're not unless you're subscribed yeah and that's a huge and i know the ad debate on twitch is a huge thing it's a huge huge thing of like Free rolls or do you you turn off ads and just take those free rolls that happen? Or do you turn ads on and you have the dedicated breaks to it? And it's it's like there's never a winning one like I have ads on I do three minutes every hour and Yep. I just use the Twitch recommended. Yeah. babyally i Like I use Twitch recommended ones because it's, it needs more. It means a more frequent paycheck whenever I hit that threshold. Yeah, exactly. Have you got, Oh, that's because you recently hit affiliate, which congratulations as well. Yes. Uh, have you gotten in your first Twitch check yet? I don't think I actually haven't checked. Let me check. Where would that even be?
01:23:43
Speaker
Oh, God, where you find I believe it's under your earnings of like whether or not you've hit the I think like as it's a $50 threshold before you can get paid now.

Twitch Affiliate Reflections and Marketing Strategies

01:23:56
Speaker
That's what the threshold is now before they send you whatever it is, whether you have it set for direct deposit or for mail or however you get it. I believe ah i I'll tell you that I did not reach $50.
01:24:08
Speaker
ah
01:24:12
Speaker
But yeah, they they they lowered it. Because I remember back when I started streaming, like the threshold to get actually paid by Twitch was you had to hit 100 bucks first and then they would send you whatever it is the next month. Yeah. yeah i As far as I know, they haven't sent me. I haven't checked in a couple of days.
01:24:28
Speaker
I don't think I hit the threshold. so But yeah, hitting affiliate as well was like, because when I, the funny thing is, like I hit affiliate when I was still on my PlayStation days, which is crazy to think. Like I think it was like I streamed for a month and then I got affiliate. Now granted, i I had my Twitch channel and did some streaming when I was younger. Like when I was known as the gaming ace.
01:24:52
Speaker
which was oh my god i do remember that Which was a weird time period. i I'm glad I killed that version of myself, fuck. um I was so like I had like I i think it was missing like 16 followers is what I was missing at the time But like hit the the follower threshold I street because it was 2020 I seemed like every day Because there was nothing else to do there was nothing else to do and I was able to success and like I think it was like I hit the
01:25:24
Speaker
hours streamed and the viewer consistency that I was like, I sent out a post like, hey, guys, go follow my Twitch. I'm like X amount away from like getting affiliate. And then I woke up the next morning and I had affiliate. Yeah. And it was like, oh, cool. I did that in a month. So it's very possible. One thing that I'm awful at is like marketing myself. Like I'll I'll just go live and i'll I'll post it in Discord, but like I won't post it on my Instagram or post it anywhere else. I'll just post it on Discord.
01:25:55
Speaker
I find that like posting everywhere like when it comes to posting to like promote yourself on stream like Obviously your discord or like wherever your main focus is is obviously like a guarantee you gotta post there It's like the okay we post there obviously let people know that it's it it is the game time um marketing yourself on the other platforms I fully don't understand it like like I post everywhere I post on the Twitter and I post on Twitter and Instagram um I mean Twitter's a shit place to post anyway nowadays like I get like there's like no no yeah I wanted to leave my account actually but say i I don't use it really I
01:26:38
Speaker
It's so bad nowadays, but I still do stuff there because it's like, well, until like everyone I follow stops using it, I'll keep on using it, I think at this point, or until it just collapses it or itself, which it's almost done however many times now.
01:26:57
Speaker
um You see, I wish I knew like where I was posting. I wish it was more like, it would tell me more of like, oh, hey, yeah, this post, this was successful on bringing people to your stream, yada, yada. I wish that I, because like I look at my Twitch analytics it tell ah of where it tells me people came from. And it's like, posting doesn't really help much. like It's like, oh yeah, they just came from Twitch elsewhere or,
01:27:28
Speaker
whatever. I'm like, I wish you were more specific on what they, yeah. Like I told you that they, they, they like click on your Instagram link or whatever. yeah to be that I wish it was more so that way I knew where to push more. Yeah. Cause right now the best way to market yourself nowadays is to stream for the clip, post clip on YouTube shorts, tick tock reels and then go live next day. Rinse, repeat. Yeah.
01:27:57
Speaker
That really is the best way to like bring people. I mean, that's what Pluckett and Pirate Software said as well. i very People keep bugging me to post my shit on like YouTube shorts and TikTok. I'm so bad about it. You should because like i because there's a difference between the two as well. Because I have...
01:28:14
Speaker
I just got through a massive like I think it was like I was behind on posting my podcast highlights ah for like the first for like episode from like the start of this season to the episode before with Ninja and i Finally got around to editing all those shorts took a day. I had like 17 shorts It was took its time But like it took a whole day but I got done as I scheduled everything which I've learned through tick-tock I've heard of through this that tick-tock you can only schedule ten days ahead Whereas YouTube and Instagram you can schedule however far ahead you need to Yeah, tick-tock only allows ten days ahead of scheduling which is like really that's interesting
01:28:58
Speaker
Anyway, I got everything scheduled and sometimes sometimes the TikTok does version does better. Sometimes the YouTube Shorts version does better. I have no clue why. It's like I essentially do the same thing on both sides. Same hashtags, same everything.
01:29:14
Speaker
Just copy-paste it. yeah made basic it Basically, but like maybe I might word it like slightly differently with TikTok or with TikTok because it's like I can you could afford to have a bit more text in the with TikTok whereas YouTube it's like as short and clean as possible and then the the Instagram versions are don't do good at all. Like I don't understand the Instagram side of things. The Instagram side of things is probably the most confusing of the three.
01:29:41
Speaker
I'm so afraid to post on Instagram because people are so mean on Instagram. I don't know. I don't see any fucking interaction on Instagram whatsoever, aside from like the occasional one or two, like one or two things. And and people that you know usually, too. like Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Like it's. Instagram, I don't get, but TikTok, TikTok, TikTok and YouTube, but like those are like your primary places, like.
01:30:07
Speaker
I almost like I almost had a short that broke a thousand views. It was so close on the shorts. And like the TikTok side, none of them broke like maybe over 500 this time around. I'm like, interesting. But I've had TikToks before that broken. That is just I just don't understand that. But it's just like, as long as I post, it'll get seen. And if it even if it brings like one person over, that's a win for me. Yeah, that that's enough, as especially as like a like you're bigger than me, but as like a smaller streamer.
01:30:38
Speaker
yeah It's good to have that even of that one extra person, right? that's Exactly it's like like to me like the best best thing I do to help with my stream side of things It's this podcast the people I get on it like the cool people you get on it's like it's a it's a way for Both exposure and then they put it on their side and they exactly exactly Exactly. That's that that's it gets you those connections to and it's just and that's I like that side a little bit more of it because it's like I get to meet cool people and
01:31:10
Speaker
Basically in in even like your discord like or like mellow discord. I see like the Like the stream promos or whatever And I'm like, I i could go raid that person but i'm scared. I don't know them Yeah, yeah yeah and going and raiding that person is like the only way to do that because like there's some people that have like a thousand followers and i'm like if if I rated them it'd be even a couple extra people will come over, right?
01:31:36
Speaker
Yeah, ah like i when when it comes to raiding, raiding is like a whole other game in itself of like, yeah okay, who do I raid today? Do I raid the friend who I know is i know it's a safe place? It'll be nice, happy, even though I won't get anything about it. It'll at least make their day or whatever. or Do I go over the strategic move, raid set, new raid of person i' following I'm following, I'm part of their community, they kind of know who I am. It's like, nice, I might get one or two things out of it. Or do you go strategically raiding, where you go to your game category, find someone of the similar size as you, whether it be viewer count wise, similar size, or like, even if just a little higher, or whatever it is. And go raid them and see what happens.
01:32:27
Speaker
My thing is, too like I stream at weird times, right? Like i like on Fridays, I stream early because I have D and&D. Saturdays, it's kind of like five o'clock, five-ish. Thursdays is late, and I usually get the most viewers on Thursdays because like the people are home, they're off work, they want to chill. But like i I work it around my schedule, but I don't schedule life around streaming, I schedule really around life Yeah, which is which is what I do as well, but i like I cuz I work part-time so it's tricky Life is the tricky part so I just see but I can um And then there are those days where it's like you know what?
01:33:06
Speaker
It's time to do a 12-hour stream out of the blue. Let's fucking do. My 12-hour stream was a lot of fun. What what did you do for your 12-hour stream? Because I completely missed it. because like i So I started at like 9.30 in the morning. Nice. Oh, that's a good time to start. i yeah So I played Star Fox. I played and finished Star Fox.
01:33:31
Speaker
I finished Shadow of the Colossus because I was already

Game Critiques and Streaming Burnout

01:33:35
Speaker
doing that one. OK, what did you think of Shadow of the Colossus? Was this your first time playing it? I loved it. Yeah, my first time. I loved it. I'm going to say this. I'm going to say this. And this is a hot take. I fucking hate Shadow of the Colossus. Why? The game controls like absolute shit. And I played it on stream, too. And people witnessed how much I hate that game. The only thing I hated about the controls was the horse.
01:34:02
Speaker
I just didn't like it. I just did not like Shadow of the Claw. I like that game a lot, but I get it. I think for everybody too. it was kind of a It's kind of slower paced. It's kind of like... Pacing wasn't even an issue I had with the game. I was fine with the pacing, because I knew i know of it i know i knew of this game of pacing, how the game works. It controlled poorly. It crashed on me multiple times. Oh, I didn't have any crashes. Yeah, I know. It crashed on me twice. I'm just like, OK. And one of them was in the middle of a boss fight. That's annoying. There were some bosses that I found kind of annoying, because they were really slow. like it was just like this is This fight's a slog.
01:34:42
Speaker
But and overall was an okay experience. Like I think I gave it like an eight out of 10 or something like that. So that's how. So I finished shadow and then I started mirrors edge. The first one. how would it that So the first, so I played it in two parts. So I, I played it with the, the, the 12 hour stream and then I had my vacation and then I finished it ah yesterday.
01:35:08
Speaker
And then, uh, so the first like three hours I played of it, I was miserable. Like oh like this game sucks. It's so bad. but But then I finished it and I'm like, it actually wasn't that bad. I think i think it was just a skill issue. I think it was just me and and like, yeah, the game's kind of inconsistent with like, like how it wants you to do things.
01:35:33
Speaker
Cause there's some parts where it's like, Oh, she just didn't grab the lead, even though she was right on it. Okay. But, but then you do it again and it does it early. I don't know why I did different. Like I did exactly the same way, but yeah, but I had an okay time with it. I'll play the sequel. I mean, it was good. And then I finished the stream of Stardew. Nice.
01:35:55
Speaker
Yeah, so I did 12 hours, 930, I think it was like 945 to like 930 or something like that. That's not bad. So it was almost 12 hours. Nice. And yeah, it was a good time. And then I was burned out. So I didn't stream anymore that week.
01:36:12
Speaker
Yeah, it's all our issues could take a lot out. I mean, long streams can take a lot out of you. It depends on like what you're doing. Like the the funny thing is I felt fine. Like, like, as soon as I hit answering, like, I feel great. I feel fine. It it didn't feel like 12 hours, but then the next day I'm like, I'm good. Actually, I can not stream.
01:36:29
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, no, I feel that like I don't know if you remember when I did my my sub-a-thon of my 60 hour sub-a-thon where I think I were on that for the for the halo bit. Oh, yeah, you were on. Yeah, you were there for the halo part of it on day five when I was completely looping out of it. And then it got expanded by like another 15 hours.
01:36:55
Speaker
Yeah, ah good times. That was that was that was probably that was probably the absolute.
01:37:05
Speaker
I don't know if I'd ever do something like that again. I mean, I'd like to do something on again when I have like a better viewership and whatnot. i i I think I would do it if I hit full-time. like If I hit the streaming full-time, I would do it then, just because that's all I'm doing then. Exactly, yeah. Until then, I have to schedule streaming around work. I can't just take a week off work. Yeah, cool. Well, with that, it's time for us to now finish things out and head on into the bonus level.

Retro Gaming Console Launches

01:37:37
Speaker
Crazy lists, great deals, and recap in gaming history, it's all here in the bonus level.
01:37:44
Speaker
And kicking things off, we've got this week in gaming history from September 9th to 22nd. Here is what happened in the past. um Major event-wise, are on September 9th, 1995, Sony introduces the PlayStation in North America. Price, $299.
01:38:06
Speaker
What a time. What a different time. Only $300 for a console. Yeah. I wish. That's like that's like three games. hey oh my god it is oh man it is uh also on the 9th in 1999 Sega released the dreamcast uh preceded by a 100 million dollar marketing campaign it was $200 250 000 units sold on the first day in the first 24 hours they
01:38:39
Speaker
Sold $97 million dollars worth of hardware and software, setting an entertainment industry record for the highest grossing day ever, yet the Dreamcast was a failed console. Yeah, literally. Crazy to think that. but September 13th, 1983, Nintendo released Super Mario Brothers in arcades in Japan.
01:39:03
Speaker
September 14th, 2001, Nintendo launched the GameCube in Japan price was 25,000 yen. And it was of course, known as the dolphin when it was in development. That's a 240 Canadian dollars. Now that's, that's with inflation. Yeah. So back in 2001, probably not that much, probably not that. 2001.
01:39:30
Speaker
I'm curious. What was that? What would that be? 2001.
01:39:36
Speaker
Again, doesn't 170. Hold on. I don't know how to read this. The bath a bath. No, it's really not.
01:39:48
Speaker
ah And of course, I'll figure it out what you talk. Yeah. September 21st, 2020, Microsoft agrees to buy video game holding companies that a max media, including Bethesda Software and their following subsidiaries for seven point five billion dollars in what was the biggest and most expensive takeover in the history of video games until, of course, Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard.
01:40:17
Speaker
which was yeah which was like 13 billion, I think. Game birthdays. ah here Here's what's celebrating your birthdays these upcoming two weeks. ah On September 9th, Rayman and Twisted Metal turn 29. Sonic Adventure also on the 9th turns 25. And also turning 25, Soul Calibur on the 9th. Also, still on the 9th, Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green.
01:40:47
Speaker
Turn 26 and Destiny turns 10 years old. All of that on September 9th. On September 10th, Advanced Wars turns 23. On September 12th, LEGO Star Wars 2 turns 18. On September 24th, Luigi's Mansion, Wave Race, Blue Storm, and Super Monkey Ball turn 23 in Japan, as that was their Japanese release date.
01:41:20
Speaker
On September 14th, Halo Reach turns 14 years old. On September September 16th, Animal Crossing turns 22. Also on the 16th, Star Wars The Force Unleashed turns... Oh god, why am I not mapping right? um Hold on to 16.
01:41:51
Speaker
September 18th, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Red and Blue Rescue Team both turn 18 years old. I love that game so much. but Also on the 18th, Borderlands 2 turns 12. And on the 19th, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 turns 24.
01:42:11
Speaker
Uh, and those are your games celebrating birthdays. Do we have the inflation price? Uh, so 260, hold on. I think I have it. Okay. So the yen. Yeah. So the the current day yet and is 28,182 and some change. Wow. Oh wow. Which is 268 Canadian dollars. Okay.

Puzzle Games and Unique Recommendations

01:42:38
Speaker
oh ah Yeah, so in today's price it's about 270 bucks That's not the worst Yeah um but Moving on to top five ah top five Pokemon fusions From Pokemon infinite both about confusion because you've played that I haven't yet ah But what were your top five fusions? Was all of their actually my top five but they're in a five that I picked from the playthrough that I did and So I have a Houndoom and Aegislash, which is very good. It's like a demon sword kind of thing. lord I have Tangrowth and Mimikyu, which is a plate of pasta. I send you these too if you want. how yeah I'll send it in the Discord chat yeah so so you can see them.
01:43:32
Speaker
So you can see them while I talk about them. This one. and Oh, that is a plate of but that's hilarious. This is a plate of like possessed pasta. That's hilarious. ah The third one there is a Porygon Z with the with a coffee gridges. Oh, this computer that's cool. That's cool. Yeah. The fourth one is a girachi and whale lord.
01:43:57
Speaker
ah Yeah, I see the whale. I saw the whale Lord did that immediately and by like almost a Raji with it. That's cool And the last one there is Mamo Swine Jump Fluff. Oh, it's Mamo Swine! Like the jump fluff is obvious, the Mamo Swine was not. I'm like, what the hell did it fuse with? That's hilarious. i got the The plate of pasta was my boy, Barilla. He was like, Carrie. ah That's great. I'm excited to play Fusions eventually. It's on the list of in in order that I got to do it.
01:44:31
Speaker
it's It's a it's a good time. It's just that like we did it like nuzlocke solving style. Yeah i don't know i not fun time i don't know if how i'll does lock it or not but i'm definitely gonna just does just like throw a randomizer on it so be oh yeah randomizer definitely All right, we now go to head-to-head two games enter one game of leaves um Both of these puzzle games that you've played on your stream. ah you humanity I have please almost versus the pedestrian So I was thinking about this one yesterday because I don't really know how, like, like how to rate them like against each other because they're they're kind of different style wise. I know that much. It's just I was looking at like, what has he played? What has he played? Because it's all men this is always like I put two games that they've played. It's like I don't know what everything they play. so i just These are at we had the same kind of genre. But yeah, I think I liked humanity more overall.
01:45:26
Speaker
Cause like as a puzzle game, it was, uh, it was kind of different. It was very, uh, and honestly, the story was pretty solid. Okay. And like the, the book and like, I like how they kept adding mechanics to it because every chapter you get like one or two more abilities. Oh, okay. like some And, uh, pedestrian is like, they, they add something new, like every chapter, but like, I'm just too dumb for that game.
01:45:56
Speaker
Like, for humanity, I had to look up a few puzzles laying here and there. yeah For pedestrian, I was looking up like every other puzzle. I'm like, I can't. I'm too i'm just stupid for this game. okay Even one of them, i i I had the answer pulled up, and I'm like, I still can't figure it out, actually. so But I think out of the two, they're both great. Pedestrian's a little shorter. You can do it in like four or five hours. But humanity was overall just better, in my opinion.
01:46:26
Speaker
Yeah, the dog from humanity is one of the characters in Astrobot as well. Oh, nice. Also humanity. ah This was a cool moment for me. I think it was part three. I think it was. I had a developer or one of the publishers come in and like chat. No, that's. That's like this is it's cool for someone. I think at the time I had like two viewers in the stream and I was like, what are you doing here? Why are you here? Why are you here? There's other people I could use you.
01:46:56
Speaker
Wow, that's that's cool, though. That's really cool. It was a cool experience for me to have ah just like a developer come in and just chat with me about the game and whatever. Yeah. So that was that was one of the highlights of my streaming career so far. Oh, yeah. ah All right. We move on to Tony's game poll. This is our seasonal poll where we ask question. You go see the answer and we give off all the results at the end of the season.
01:47:23
Speaker
If Kingdom Hearts 4 was to add any Disney Pixar world that hasn't been added yet, what would what world would you add? I haven't played Kingdom Hearts, so it's not all the way through. So I don't know what's in there or not. that's why and That's why I'm here. So I'll be able to tell you if it's there or not. I don't know. Is Tangled in there? Tangled is in Kingdom Hearts 3. Great.
01:47:45
Speaker
um Oh, like something Marvel, something like Deadpool or something. That's that's the technically Disney, right? I mean, technically, yes. But it's also like some licensing stuff there. I mean, it's technically owned by Disney. It's the same like with Star Wars. So Star Wars would be cool. Star Wars would be. If they had Star Wars, that'd be cool. OK.
01:48:13
Speaker

01:49:22
Speaker
And our guest game recommendations, Stu, if there is one game old or new that you would recommend to the audience right now, what game would that be? ah So I have a few. I thought about it ah during the podcast because I was, you know, I had time.
01:49:36
Speaker
Um, there's one that I always recommend to people that I want to play on a stream at at some point. It's called God-like burger. I have that in my library because it was free on F. Okay. So it, it's all talking about it. I guess the, uh, it's the basic concept is that you run a restaurant. Yeah. But.
01:49:56
Speaker
And you serve like burgers or whatever, yeah because it's godlike burger. And, but you have to like kill your guests to like get more meat for the burgers. It's kind of like Sweeney Todd, I guess in a way. so it's it's It's a restaurant manager meets like Sweeney Todd. um so And there's like cops that like, and you have to like wash your hands after after you kill people because like you get blood on your apron.
01:50:23
Speaker
Whatever. Uh, it's a good time. I didn't make it very far. I think I made it to like day like 10 or 15. But like you can go to like other planets you can like, and you can like build like permanent upgrades and stuff too. But, um, yeah, it's a fantastic time. I'll recommend it to anybody who asks. So, okay. It's a good recommendation. I'd like burger burger. Uh, well with that, that's it for another episode here in the game. I'll just do thank you for coming on today.
